1956 AC Aceca

The AC Aceca (pronounced “a see ka”) was introduced in 1953 and was a coupe grand tourer based on the AC Ace roadster. The chassis of the two cars were different and the coupe was only slightly heavier than the convertible, thanks to a well-engineered fabrication. An AC 2-liter engine powered the first models. Each year, the power output increased with improvements and fine-tuning. A Bristol engine was introduced in 1956. The new unit was based on a BMW 328 engine and produced 120 hp. A custom unit replaced the Moss gearbox and the car offered optional overdrive. In 1956, AC added front disc brakes to the model. At the end of its production run, the Shelby Cobra, one of AC’s iconic models, replaced the AC Aceca.
