1953 Aston Martin DB2 Drophead Coupe

Aston Martin’s first successful post-war production car, the Aston Martin DB2 was far more than just an elegant sports touring car; it married Le Mans performance with the comforts of a luxurious highway car. Highly famed on the racing circuit with wins at Le Mans and the Mille Miglia, the Aston Martin DB2 would see its official debut as a production car at the 1950 New York Motor Show. The history, however, dates back to David Brown’s acquisition of both Aston Martin, which gave the chassis, and Lagonda, which gave the engine. The 1953 Aston Martin DB2 Drophead Coupe (as well as the Fixed-Head Coupe) is an excellent example of this illustrious history, as it marks the last year of production prior to moving to the Aston Martin DB2/4. Powered by a Lagonda 2.6L six-cylinder engine, the DB2 was capable of 115hp in standard tune and 125hp in Vantage tune. Despite being officially launched in a Fixed-Head Coupe style, a Drophead Coupe would quickly follow and would see approximately 97 models manufactured over the short three-year production period. In total, only 411 DB2 models would be produced. 1953 Aston Martin DB2 Drophead Coupe Seller’s Guide

Whether your 1953 Aston Martin DB2 Drophead Coupe is a rolling chassis in need of complete head-to-toe restoration or one that has already been painstakingly restored to exacting standards, you can rest assured knowing that there will be interest in your classic. One of the most important Seller’s Tips, however, is to ensure that you attempt to take the emotion out of the sale. This may sound absurd, yet many sellers overlook exceptional opportunities and deals because they are too emotionally tied to their classic. Think deeply about whether or not you’re ready to sell your classic and, if you are, think about it as a business deal. Gather all the information you can that makes your DB2 DHC stand out from the crowd. Be sure to have current pictures and a list of any components or aftermarket parts that may come with the sale. When you’re ready to take the next step, connect with the Alex Manos team. With years of experience, they can help you evaluate the current market for your classic based on recent sales online and at auction, rarity, condition and more.
