The Ferrari 308 GTS was produced from 1977 to 1985 in three different series. The latest generation started in 1983 and was called the QV, for quattrovalvole, because of the four valve system developed by Ferrari engineers in order to recover some of the power lost when switching from carburetors to fuel-injection. In fact, increasing emissions regulations in the US forced Ferrari to make changes on the early models. The last models are probably the most popular nowadays, being technologically advanced and featuring the latest design updates. The shape of the Ferrari 308 GTS was highly praised when the car was first introduced, as both motoring press and fans were glad to see a true successor to the Dino 246 GT. The Ferrari 308 GT4 that came out earlier was a four-seater designed by Bertone and featured angular lines that weren’t in continuity with the previous Pininfarina designs.
