The 1965 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud III is a shining example of their dreams brought to life. Like its immediate predecessor, the Silver Cloud II, the 1965 Silver Cloud III would be powered by a 6.2 liter V-8 that would allow it to achieve speeds in excess of 100mph. There were several other differences between the two —many marked improvements from one generation to the other— but visually, the two were very similar, if not undistinguishable.

The primary difference between the Silver Cloud II and the Silver Cloud III is the increase in power. While both boasted a powerful V-8 engine, the Silver Cloud III was more than 200lbs lighter, which allowed for better acceleration, handling and top speed. The majority of the Silver Cloud III models were full-size, four-door saloon examples, but the body-on-frame construction allowed for outsourced coach building. Thus, there were drop head and fixed head coupe body styles, which were provided by the big-named coachbuilders of the era like Park Ward, Mulliner, and Young.
