Selling your Wagoneer? If you own one — a sixties Kaiser-built Wagoneer, a seventies AMC truck, a Grand Wagoneer from the woodgrain-and-leather years — and you’re thinking about selling, I’d like to be your first phone call.

I buy directly. Send photos, the VIN, and the story. I respond within 24-48 hours, usually faster. If an offer is made and agreed to, you get a specific number — not a range, not “pending inspection” — and payment is immediate. I coordinate pickup around your schedule, and I handle the paperwork, including the messy kind.

I’ve been doing this out of Los Angeles for more than twenty years, and I buy nationwide — all 48 continental states plus Hawaii. In that time I’ve bought vehicles out of estates, divorces, storage facilities with lien claims, and barns with dirt floors.

  • Quick turnaround – A handful of clear photos and a brief rundown of ownership history and mechanical condition is all I need to evaluate. Firm offers often go out the same day.
  • Every condition considered – Corroded, not running, mid-restoration and in pieces, or a low-mileage example with a full paper trail — I’ll look at all of it.
  • Coast to coast (and beyond) – I buy classics out of rural barns, small-town garages, urban storage units, climate-controlled collections, and yes, even Hawaii.
  • Payment that doesn’t wait – Funds arrive by wire or cashier’s check before the car ever leaves your driveway.
  • Pickup handled for you – Transport is arranged promptly, door to door. You won’t spend your week fielding quotes from shipping brokers.
  • No fees, no surprises – Zero seller’s commission, no photography upsells, no last-minute deductions from the agreed number.
  • A track record you can check – Featured on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Buying Beverly Hills, Fast N Loud, and Wheeler Dealers. Every transaction is one I stand behind.
  • Real market fluency – I work from live acquisition activity every day, not just published price guides — which means a sharp read on color desirability, originality premiums, and the other nuances that move a number.

Why I Buy These Cars

The Wagoneer ran twenty-eight years on one platform under three different owners — Kaiser, then AMC, then Chrysler — and the details matter enormously to value.

I know the difference between a Tornado 230 overhead-cam six and the V8s that followed it, and why a surviving early truck is rarer than production numbers suggest. I know what a real Super Wagoneer is — the bucket-seat, console, padded-roof luxury experiment of the late sixties — and I know how few are left, which is why I’ll take a rough one seriously. I know what Quadra-Trac meant when it arrived in 1973, why the 1978 Limited changed the vehicle’s trajectory, and why the Grand Wagoneer years from 1984 through the 1991 Final Edition anchor today’s market.

When you talk to me about your truck, you’re not educating a generalist. You’re describing a vehicle to someone who’s bought a lot of them and knows exactly what he’s looking at — which also means I know what honest wear looks like versus what a problem looks like, and I price the difference fairly rather than fearfully.

The Stuff Sellers Shouldn’t Worry About

Almost every Wagoneer conversation I have starts with a disclaimer. “It’s got some rust.” “The carburetor’s fussy.” “The tailgate window quit.” I appreciate the honesty, but understand: none of this scares me. It just informs the number.

Rust is a Wagoneer fact of life — rear quarters and wheel arches, rockers, floor pans, the lower tailgate, the fenders behind the front wheels, the frame near the rear shackles, and up top where the rain gutters let water in. I’ve bought trucks at every point on that spectrum, from surface freckles to structural surgery cases. Tell me where it is and show me photos; I’ll do the rest.

The AMC 360’s factory carburetor and vacuum plumbing are the source of most drivability gripes on Grand Wagoneers — stalling, hesitation, hot-start drama. A sorted truck is worth more, an unsorted one is worth a fair number that reflects the work, and a truck someone converted to fuel injection gets judged on the quality of the job. The transmission behind that engine is nearly indestructible, the tailgate window motor famously isn’t, and neither fact surprises me.

Peeling woodgrain? Cosmetic. Missing woodgrain? Correctable. Original woodgrain that still looks good? Now you have my attention, because that usually means the whole truck lived a gentle life.

Situations, Often Not About The Wagoneer

Half of what I actually do is solve circumstances. The Wagoneer in an estate where the executor needs resolution and knows nothing about old Jeeps. The truck in a divorce where both parties want one fair number and a clean split. The one in a storage unit with a lien for back rent and a title that’s been missing since the nineties. The restoration that stalled in a garage a decade ago, half-assembled, boxes labeled in handwriting nobody can read anymore.

I’ve closed purchases in under a week when a family needed it done, and I’ve waited patiently for months when probate demanded it. Complicated paperwork doesn’t put me off a good truck. It’s part of the job.

And I’ll say this too: a lot of Wagoneers are family history on four wheels. If selling yours feels heavier than a transaction should, that’s normal, and I’ll treat the process — and the truck — accordingly. I’m an enthusiast first and a buyer second. These trucks go on to owners who want them, not to a back lot.

When You’re Ready

Send me photos — the whole truck in decent light, the interior, the engine bay, the rockers and rear quarters, the tailgate, anything you’d want to know about if you were buying it. Include the VIN and the story: how long you’ve had it, where it’s lived, what works and what doesn’t.

You’ll hear back from me within 24-48 hours, often the same day. If I make an offer, it’s firm. If I’m not the right buyer, I’ll tell you why and point you somewhere useful. No pressure either way — when you’re ready to move forward, I’m easy to find.

“I had a great experience selling my 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet to Alex Manos. Abraham is a great negotiator-professional, responsive and a pleasure to work with throughout the entire process. We were able to come to a deal that worked for both of us, and from there everything was handled quickly and seamlessly. A special thank you to Edith and Robert, who made the final paperwork, title transfer and pickup incredibly easy and were wonderful to deal with. Selling a classic car you’ve owned for many years can be bittersweet, but knowing it was going to people who appreciate these cars made it a little easier.
