Buying or Selling a De Tomaso?

De Tomaso
De Tomaso

Car manufacturer De Tomaso was founded by Alejandro De Tomaso, former racecar driver from Argentina. In the beginning—1959, De Tomaso built racecar prototypes in Modena, including a Formula 1 model for the Frank Williams team in 1970. Presented in 1963, the Vallelunga was the first road car model. It was built on an aluminum chassis with a glass-fiber body and fitted with a 106-hp Ford Cortina engine. The De Tomaso Mangusta was the second model, fitted with a 4.7-liter, V8, Ford engine and penned by Giorgietto Giugiaro. The Mangusta was produced from 1968 to 1970 and was named after the arachnid mongosse, which was the main enemy of the cobra—in reference to the AC Cobra. The most popular models made by the brand were the Pantera I and Pantera II models in the early 1970s and early 1990s respectively. De Tomaso produced a model called the Guara in very few examples at the end of the 1990s, due to financial difficulties. Chinese car manufacturer Consolidated Ideal bought the brand in 2015 after they filed for bankruptcy.
