Selling a 1961 Alfa Romeo 2000
The 1961 Alfa Romeo 2000 would be the last model-year release for the popular Alfa Romeo 2000 range. The Alfa Romeo 2600 would replace the 2000 in 1962. The history of the Alfa Romeo 2000 dates back to its first appearance at the Turin Motor Show on 1957. It would enter into production in 1958 and would offer a 1,975cc four-cylinder engine that gave the Berlina Sedan 105hp and the Sprint and Special models 115hp with twin Solex carburetors. The Sedan would be designed and built in house, while popular Italian coachbuilders would design the bodywork for the Sprint and Spider editions. Bertone, for example, would style the 2000 Sprint, while the Spider would be designed by Touring. In total, approximately 7,089 units of the Alfa Romeo 200 would be manufactured, with Spiders accounting for nearly half of the units produced (approximately 3,443 units). With that being said, the Spider and Sprint models are certainly more favored over the Sedan versions, however, values are still good for the Sedan.
