A series of changes would come to the Jaguar XKE lineup during the late 1960s to comply with new safety and emissions regulations that were happening in the United States, Jaguar’s biggest market. The cars released in 1967 and 1968 would become known as Series 1 ½ models among enthusiasts and collectors, as these changes would be implemented sporadically throughout this timeframe. This is not an official designation by Jaguar. In total, there were approximately 2,510 units of the 1967 Jaguar XKE Convertible manufactured during this time as well as approximately 1,220 Fixed Head Coupes and 1,302 Fixed Head Coupe 2+2 models. Potential buyers should expect these models to have uncovered headlights, although some of the early 1967 models may still have the traditional closed headlights, the same 4.2L engine that was used in previous years, and two Zenith carburetors in the place of three SU carburetors. Additional visual cues include valve covers with ridges rather than the previously smooth covers, and rocker switches inside the car rather than the previously used dipper switches. These are some of the features that you can point out to potential buyers that are specific to your particular 1967 XKE Convertible.

1967 Jaguar XKE Convertible Seller’s Guide

The 1967 Jaguar XKE Convertible is more desirable than the Fixed Head Coupe and 2+2 models that it ran alongside, however some buyers frown upon the Series 1 ½ models, as you can never really be sure which changes were implemented, which can make them difficult to work on. Of course, this is personal preference and you’re sure to find a buyer that is interested in your 1967 XKE Convertible no matter what its condition and features. One of the best Seller’s Tips that the Alex Manos team recommends is to be as prepared as possible for the sale. This can mean everything from clearing out a path in the garage for buyers to be able to view and examine your XKE to washing it, taking pictures of it, or gathering the extra parts that may come with the sale. Of course you’ll also want to have all documentation ready and handy to answer any questions that buyers may have. Similarly, you’ll want to allow serious buyers to plan for a third party pre-purchase inspection.
