Part of the third generation of Porsche 356’s that would run from 1959 to 1963, the 1959 Porsche 356B Coupe would offer a wealth of changes over the previous Pre-A and 356A models. Easily identified by the inclusion of quarter lights in the doors and the way the new body style made a smooth curve across the front hood from side to side, rather than the “wave” pattern on the previous models, the 356B Coupe would see great sales during its era. Headlights were also raised during the 356B release, and the front fenders now made nearly a straight line from the front windshield posts to the headlights. Higher bumpers with stronger bumper guards and a large chrome hood handle also identify the 356B from others. The 1959 Porsche 356B Coupe would also feature a front vent window for the first time, an option that was previously only available on the Cabriolet. In total, there were more than 4,000 Porsche 356B Coupe models manufactured during this production year, which accounted for more than half of the production of 356B models during the year. While the Coupe models are easier to find today when compared to their Cabriolet counterparts, they are still highly desired among collectors and enthusiasts alike.

1959 Porsche 356B Coupe Seller’s Guide

When selling a 1959 Porsche 356B Coupe, there are a few questions that potential buyers will likely have. The first question most will ask is if you have documentation regarding history, maintenance, restoration or repairs. While it is unlikely that maintenance records will be complete for a car of this age, anything you can provide that will give the buyer confidence in this upkeep and history of your car would be beneficial. The next question is most often about rust. Rust plagues these early models, and buyers will want to know the extent of any damage. You should also be prepared to allow serious buyers to have a pre-purchase inspection with an independent Porsche mechanic. These are just a few of the Seller’s Tips that the Alex Manos team recommends for the 1959 Porsche 356B Coupe.
