Selling a 1959 Porsche 356B
During the 1959 production year, the third generation of the Porsche 356 would be released as the 356B. The 1959 Porsche 356B would feature the first real appearance changes of the 356 series. Bumpers were raised approximately four inches in both the front and the rear, and were also a different shape with large vertical bumper guards. Headlights were also raised with this release, and the fender line was now almost horizontal from the cowl to the headlight rim. Two grilles were added: a horn grille above the bumper and a brake-cooling grille below the bumper. Known as the T-5 body type, the front hood would also become flatter, with a massive chrome handle to replace the polished aluminum one that had been used on the Pre-A and 356A models. When introducing potential buyers to your 1959 Porsche 356B, these are some of the distinguishing characteristics that can identify your particular model as a true 356B. During the 1959 production year, the Porsche 356B was available as a Coupe, a Cabriolet and a Convertible D. The Convertible D and Cabriolet models, both soft-top versions, are often confused but are distinct variations.
