The 1972 Porsche 911T would now offer 140 horsepower, whereas the 911E would offer 160 horsepower and the 911S would offer 190 horsepower. This was also an interesting time for the Porsche 911 brand, as all U.S. models would use Bosch fuel injection and the oil tank was moved in front of the right rear wheel to improve weight distribution. This also led to a quirky oil-filler on the right rear of the car that was often confused with the fuel-filler. European versions, on the other hand, would see a lower compression ratio and Zenith carburetors in place of fuel injection, which would bring the 911T’s horsepower down to 130. All models received a four-speed version of the 915 gearbox, although a five-speed various was an available and popular option. As with previous years, all three 911 variations would be available in either the Coupe or Targa configuration.
