Selling A Porsche 930 Speedster

Towards the end of Porsche 930 production, the German automaker would celebrate one of its most legendary classics, the Porsche 356 Speedster. To do this, Porsche would introduce an exclusive, limited-production Porsche 930 Speedster using the 3.2L Porsche 911 Turbo Type 930 platform. Offering all of the original character of the original Porsche 356, the Porsche 930 Speedster would boast a lightweight body, a heavily raked and lowered windscreen with a thin aluminum frame, and a two-seat cockpit. A color-matched hard top panel to cover the soft top would accompany the Porsche 930 Speedster, while cross-drilled disc brakes and four-piston calipers would be standard. In the American market, the Porsche 930 Speedster would carry the name “Porsche 911 Carrera Speedster.” In total, it is estimated that approximately 2,100 examples were produced, of which only 800 would be sent to America. Because of the limited offering in America, it is not uncommon to find a “gray-market” version in the United States – a European version that was privately imported into the country. If you’re the proud owner of a Porsche 930 Speedster and are thinking about selling, the Alex Manos team would be thrilled to speak with you regarding your classic.

Porsche 930 Speedster Seller’s Guide

The Porsche 930 Speedster is certainly a rare classic in today’s market – despite a number of replicas and kit cars that have been produced to look like this classic Porsche model. As a seller, it will be your job to help buyers realize the authenticity of your particular example. Some sellers choose to obtain a Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche to achieve this, while others show engine and chassis numbers as they compare to historic records. In most cases, particularly because of the rarity of this classic, serious buyers will request a third party inspection to ensure they have a full understand of the overall condition of the Porsche 930 Speedster and its originality and authenticity. If you feel that the buyer is indeed serious about purchasing your classic, you should try to accommodate the request for inspection. Similarly, you should gather any paperwork you have regarding the car’s history, maintenance and repair, and restoration, if any. These documents can give great insight as to how the car was treated over the years. A car with one owner, for example, is often more valued than a car with four or five owners, while a car with little to no accident damage is also highly valued. These are just a few of the Seller’s Tips that the Alex Manos team of classic car professionals recommends.
