Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona

Motoring writers nicknamed the car the Daytona after a trio of Ferrari 365 GTB/4 swept the 24 Hours of Daytona race in 1967. The name stayed and has been used by most people ever since to refer to the classic Ferrari 365 GTB/4. Leonardo Fioravanti at Pininfarina designed the Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Berlinetta, while bodies were built by Scaglietti. The car was introduced at the Paris Salon in 1968. Although the chassis was based on the earlier Ferrari 275 GTB/4, the design was completely different. Originally intended to receive full-width acrylic headlamp covers, regulations forced the change to subtle pop-up lights, which in the end added to the charm of the Daytona. The lines of the car were smooth and a deep cease on the side gave the car extra length visually. The interior was spacious and comfortable, equipped with electric window lifts, air conditioning and a roomy luggage locker. Fitted with four-wheel hydraulic disc brakes and four-wheel coil-spring independent suspension, the Ferrari Daytona was a very comfortable vehicle, providing an enjoyable and smooth, yet thrilling driving experience.

Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Seller’s Guide

The Daytona was equipped with a 4.4-Liter DOHC V12 engine capable of 320hp. The V12 drove through a rear-mounted five-speed transaxle and featured dual overhead-camshaft. Journalist Paul Frère described the Daytona as “the Grand Touring car par excellence” and claimed to have reached 176 mph in 1969 with the car. These are just a few of the fun facts that you can share with potential buyers who may not have a deep understanding of the Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona’s history. During its 6-year production run, nearly 1,300 examples of the Daytona were produced, which is a large production for Ferrari.
