Buying or Selling an Intermeccanica?

Intermeccanica
Intermeccanica

Founded in 1959 and initially based in Torino, Italy, Intermeccanica was a long-standing custom design company that began by making speed equipment kits and exhaust systems. This transitioned into race car designs that were being requested by a US Formula Junior racer, which ultimately found success on the Monza track. It was timed at over 140 mph during this particular race. Following the production of race cars, Intermeccanica moved to producing unique bodies for hand-assembled road cars. By the 1960s – and specifically in 1962 – the company released a prototype called the Apollo that ended up winning best in show at the New York Auto Show. The company manufactured another highly successful model called the Torino, which was later re-imagined as the Italia, which was an elegant and sporty design that was shipped from the US from 1968 on and sold nearly 400 units in North America and Germany. Intermeccanica also was involved with the development of Indra and Bitter Cars and Opel in 1971. By 1975, the company had relocated to California.
