Buying or Selling a 1980 Maserati Merak?
The Maserati Merak was introduced in 1972 and in production until 1983. The Merak shared most of its sheet metal with the Maserati Bora, which was the V8 Giugiaro-designed GT introduced the year before. The 3-liter V6 engine of the Merak kept cost in check, while providing great performance and an output of 190 hp. The smaller V6 also gave room for a small pair of rear seats, making the Merak a more convenient sports car than the Bora. Through the end of 1975, many changes were made to the model following the switch of ownership from Citroen to De Tomaso. Mainly, the conventional brakes and ZF transaxle were substituted, and a new dashboard was introduced. In addition, a more powerful SS variant was added to the catalogue.
