Selling a 1957 Mercedes Benz 300SL Roadster

1957 Mercedes Benz 300SL Roadster

In 1957, Mercedes Benz introduced a Roadster version of the widely popular 300SL at the Geneva Motor Show. Effectively replacing the Mercedes 300SL Gullwing coupe that had been retired earlier that year, the 1957 Mercedes Benz 300SL was priced at nearly $11,000. While it was more expensive than the outgoing coupe, the roadster offered a host of upgrades including larger front fenders, larger European headlights, a smaller grille, a rounder front windscreen, and a chrome accent strop running down the side of the car. Much like the coupe, however, the 1957 Mercedes Benz 300SL roadster was available with a variety of options, some of which included the hardtop, Rudge wheels, and fitted rear luggage. If you are looking to sell classic Mercedes, having any combination of these options can increase the value of your vehicle.

1957 Mercedes Benz 300SL Seller’s Tips

If you’re looking to sell Mercedes 300SL models of any production year, it is important to remember that having a complete example is far more desirable to buyers with this particular auto. Quite simply, finding parts for the 1957 Mercedes Benz 300SL – and the other year models – is very difficult and expensive. Those looking to restore a 300SL can expect to pay into the six-figures. For this reason, many of today’s Mercedes and classic car enthusiasts prefer to find a complete or relatively complete example, with little needed restoration. Roadsters from 1957 to 1960 can range anywhere from pennies on the dollar for a poor condition model to well over $500,000 depending on the rarity, originality, condition, location and more. These of course are just estimates and you are encouraged to speak directly with the team at to determine the value of your auto.
