Buying or Selling a Sunbeam Tiger?
The Sunbeam Tiger was a British two-door sports car produced from 1964 to 1968. The model featured a simple and refined body and was often referred to as a “small Shelby Cobra.” Like the Shelby’s A.C. Cobra, the Sunbeam Tiger was powered by a V8 Ford engine with an output of 164 hp. In addition to producing more than twice the power of its predecessor—the Sunbeam Alpine—the Tiger could reached 60 mph from still in 9.5 seconds, which was almost twice as quick as the Alpine. The engine was matted to a four-speed gearbox provided by Ford, who also provided the live rear axle. The chassis came from the Alpine and was modified by Shelby. The Sunbeam Tiger featured a stiffer suspension and a new rack and pinion steering. In conclusion, the Tiger offered satisfying performance, slick design and comfort, as well as great handling and road holding. The first generation of Sunbeam Tiger was sold in 6,495 examples before an upgraded version with boosted performance was introduced in 1967.
